History

Colegio Verdad y Vida (CVV) was initially intended to provide a safe, Christ-centered educational environment for the children at Casa Vida y Esperanza. The poor academic quality and unhealthy social interactions within the Mexican public schools along with the trauma backgrounds of the children, created a need for a more therapeutic and holistic learning environment. In 2008 we began with a handful of the most academically-challenged students from CVE in an informal special needs type classroom with one full-time teacher. In 2009, a total of 15 CVE students were enrolled in a community-sponsored school program known as CONAFE, the first step into a more structured on-site education system. The following year, all CVE students plus a handful of children from Magdalena were enrolled in the CONAFE program, with 6 full-time instructors. As the years passed, it became clear that an autonomous, government-certified private school was critical to ensure that Christian teachings and high academic standards would be consistently maintained. Additionally, a private academy would open doors for Gospel ministry and outreach to more children from Magdalena. After a timely God-orchestrated meeting with some well-connected local elected officials, the middle school was certified under CVE's legal charter in 2014, followed by the elementary school in 2015. With the contributions and labor of HarvestCall donors and volunteers, along with our 19 dedicated staff, and more interest from the families of Magdalena than ever before, Colegio Verdad y Vida is set up with room to grow with a science lab, computer lab, athletic facilities, and classrooms for over 100 students.

Testimonies

Juan Pablo

"Juan Pablo enrolled in 1st grade at CVV in August 2020. He has been attending this school for almost four years.

We decided to enroll him in Colegio Verdad y Vida because it is an institution where values are instilled in the students and where children can develop their skills and attitudes in a positive way and in a healthy and motivating learning environment. We appreciate its organization and care in every detail so that the students are safe and at their academic level. We appreciate that it is a school that takes God's values as a reference and teaches them to the children so that they can be good citizens.

Now that he is in the 4th grade of primary school, we have noticed that Juan Pablo has developed his social skills well because at the beginning of primary school he was a very introverted child with very little development and social interaction. Any unknown or new situation caused him anxiety. Today he is a more confident and sociable child in school and socially, and his academic level has improved significantly. He is very happy at his school."

- Ana Karina Hernández Ríos, mother of Juan Pablo

Sergio Ivan

"Sergio Iván Chavarría Miranda enrolled in 3rd grade at Colegio Verdad y Vida in August 2022. He has been attending school for almost 2 years.

I decided to enroll him in Colegio Verdad y Vida because in the school where he attended before he suffered from bullying by his classmates and little empathy from his teachers since he has ADHD and requires a lot of patience and attention. But above all, he lacked solidarity from the people with whom he interacted daily. CVV was one of the schools that was highly recommended to me because of the empathy with which they treat the children.

Since attending, I have seen a great change in my son in every aspect, mainly in his self-esteem and security. He wakes up motivated and happy because he’s going to his school. I have noticed that he socializes much better and respects his classmates and teachers. He learned to read 15 days after entering school. Every day he improves and every year I see that his grades are constantly increasing and that makes him and I happy. It was undoubtedly the best decision I could have made.

I am so grateful for the love, effort, and dedication that the teachers and administrative staff give my son every day but especially Principal Eunice. Her human warmth makes the children love her so much and respect her. Sergio Iván cannot forget the day he had an anxiety crisis; He told me that he felt very bad and sad and she supported him emotionally. She told him that he was valuable and loved by many; she made him feel important and valued. Definitely, Colegio Verdad y Vida is an upright institution that cares about the healthy and sustainable development of our children and that gives us peace and the security that our children are in excellent hands. I am infinitely grateful."

-Fernanda Miranda, mother of Sergio Iván

Support Needed

All building maintenance, utility expenses, new construction, legal compliance, safety protocols, educational materials, textbooks, teacher salaries, and transportation costs are funded through Casa Vida y Esperanza and Child Sponsorship. Due to our ongoing commitment to offer our services to the families in Magdalena who most need and benefit from our program, we are unable to collect more than a symbolic tuition contribution from our students' families. Without generous financial support, this project could not continue.

Our school was formed with Christ as its foundation and purpose. Many of our students come from non-believing or nominally Catholic families, with little or no knowledge of the Gospel. Additionally, while we always seek to hire competent and compassionate teachers, not all of our teachers are Christians due to a lack of certified Christian teachers available. Our Magdalena community; government officials, school supervisors, neighbors, and ordinary townspeople, desperately need to hear about Christ and experience His love. These realities offer abundant opportunities for biblical truth to take root in the hearts of the students and families we serve, the teachers we employ, and the watching community via our speech and example.

Please pray that God will be magnified, Christ preached, and the fruit of the Spirit made evident because of Colegio Verdad y Vida.
